Students attending the ASTA National Conference 2027 in Chicago will get a fun and inspiring mix of music and city life. They’ll take part in workshops and masterclasses with top string teachers and performers, check out live concerts, and meet other student musicians from around the country. Outside of the conference, they’ll also have time to explore Chicago—seeing famous sights, experiencing the city’s music and arts scene, and trying some of its local food. It’s a great chance to grow as musicians while also having a memorable trip in a major U.S. city.

Here’s what you can expect:

Day 1 (Feb 24)

Fly out from John Wayne Airport in the morning and head straight to Chicago. Once you land, settle into the hotel, before heading out for dinner at a local favorite for classic deep-dish pizza.Have a fun first taste of the city and start the trip together before the ASTA National Conference activities begin.

Day 2 (Feb 25)

During the first full day of the conference, you'll spend the day diving into conference sessions—attending workshops, masterclasses, performances, and clinics led by top string educators and musicians from across the country.

Day 3 (Feb 26)

After a busy day of music-making and learning, we’ll visit Millennium Park to see the famous “Bean” in the heart of downtown. Next we’ll attend a performance by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, giving students a chance to experience one of the world’s top orchestras live and wrap up the day on a really memorable musical note.

Day 4 (Feb 27)

One last day to build skills at the conference, followed by a visit to Chicago’s most iconic waterfront spots - Navy Pier. Students can walk along the pier, check out the views of Lake Michigan and the skyline, and enjoy the shops, attractions, and energy of the area before heading back to the hotel for the evening.

Day 5 (Feb 28)

Day 5 is bittersweet as we say goodbye to the Windy City. After an unforgettable time at the ASTA conference, students will return home with new musical skills, fresh inspiration, and a lot of shared memories from their time in Chicago.
