Norwegian Jaunt

Designed for adults, this tour blends relaxation with adventure, guided tours with self-exploration, and fish market shopping with stave church exploration.  We think it's just the right mix.  See what you think:

Day 1

Velkommen til Norge! Welcome to the Kingdom of Norway. Arrive in Oslo, which is considered one of the most walkable capitals in the world. You’ll discover the Sentrum in no time. Enjoy dinner and say “god natt.” 

Day 2

Discover Oslo on a private bike tour with Viking Biking*. Among other landmarks, you’ll ride through Vigeland Sculpture Park, filled with 200 sculptures created by Gustav Vigeland. Visit the National Museum on Oslo’s waterfront, paying tribute to art, architecture, and design.

Day 3

This is your day to dive deep. Revisit a favorite from yesterday, try something new, like the Viking ships at the Maritime Museum, or take a swim at the beach. Explore on your own, with a buddy, or in a group. Want some help deciding? We’ll have a whole list and map of fun things to see. End the evening enjoying a performance at the Oslo Opera House (it’s shaped like an iceberg!).

Day 4

Ride the breathtakingly beautiful rails to the village of Flåm. 

Feeling peaceful? Cruise the Naeroyfjord on a calm, relaxing boat tour through this UNESCO world heritage site.

Or

Fancy a little speed? Take the Zodiac Tour and race around the fjord in speed boats, complete with a splash of commentary about the area.*

Day 5

Feeling adventurous? Train up a beautiful mountain-side to Myrdal Station.  Zipline down the mountain to the Rallarrosa Cheese Farm. Then bike down the rest of the mountain.* 

Or

Explore the natural beauty of Flåm. Take some time for quiet reflection, drawing, writing, meditation, or shopping.

Day 6

Travel to Balestrand.

Join a guided kayak tour on the Sognefjord, Norway’s longest and deepest fjord.*

Or

Relax in Balestrand, take a self-guided cultural walk, visit St. Olaf Church, taste the local apple cider, or enjoy the Aquarium.

Day 7

Sail across the fjord to neighboring Vik. Step back in time to the 12th century and visit the Hopperstad Stave Church, one of the oldest in the country.  Explore the village of Vik. Consider a stop at the Tine cheese factory to taste the famous Norwegian gammelost cheese.

Day 8

Enjoy a ferry ride to Bergen. Soak in the landscape and architecture that inspired the kingdom of Arendelle from Disney’s Frozen. Take a ride on the Fløibanen Funicular to the top of Mount Fløyen. Enjoy an afternoon of breathtaking views and explore on your own.

Day 9

Get to know the historic Hanseatic district of Bergen on the Bryggen Walking Tour. Dine on fresh seafood at the Fish Market, right on the port. Soak in your must-sees (KODE Art Museums, Hansiatic Museum, Bryggens Museum, St. Mary’s Church, or Aquarium), or find those treasures to bring home. Enjoy our last dinner together with friends, old and new.

Day 10

Bid Norway “takk for nå,” and relax on your transatlantic flight home.

Includes all travel within and between cities, breakfast each day, all accommodations, base package excursions, and two personal travel guides (and friends for life, of course)
